A moment ago, I was feeling pretty down about the holidays. I peeled a clementine and smiled. There is just something about the smell of an orange, especially this time of year, that brings me joy. I closed my eyes, and took in the scent. Then, I asked myself, what are five things that I am grateful for, right in this moment. Here is what came to mind.
The smell of a clementine and how it can transport me to a joyful mood.
The wonder my son expresses each and every day, specifically yesterday when we watched The Very Hungry Caterpillar interactive story online and his jaw dropped in amazement when the caterpillar turned into a butterfly. Spending time with him, with any child, does wonders for the soul. I am grateful for the opportunity to witness him discover so many of the world’s wonders.
Pomegranates. Can you tell that I was unpacking groceries? But really, aren’t pomegranates just amazing?
Curbside services. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all those who make this service possible. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. I appreciate you. I am so, so grateful for you.
My entire family. How lucky I am to have something I miss so much.
If you’re in a funk, I encourage you to of course feel those feelings, and when you are ready, try to think of the things you are grateful for in this moment. It doesn’t have to be the top things you are grateful for of all time. Just in this moment, what brings you joy?
Please know that you are loved. I am grateful for you.
